Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Tandem ("the app", "we", "our"). By creating an account, you agree to these terms.

What Tandem Is

Tandem is a relationship check-in app that uses AI to help couples reflect individually and communicate together. It is designed for proactive relationship care.

What Tandem Is Not

Tandem is not therapy. It is not a substitute for professional mental health care, couples counseling, or crisis intervention. The AI facilitator is not a licensed therapist. If you or your partner are in crisis, please contact a mental health professional or crisis helpline.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Tandem. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.

Your Account

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
• You may only create one account per person.
• You may delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app to harass, threaten, or harm your partner or anyone else.
• Attempt to manipulate the AI to produce harmful, deceptive, or abusive content.
• Use the app for any illegal purpose.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the service.
• Share your account credentials with others.

Privacy

Your use of Tandem is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

AI-Generated Content

The AI facilitator and private agent generate responses based on your input and relationship context. These responses are:

• Not professional advice (medical, legal, therapeutic, or otherwise).
• Not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your situation.
• Generated by a third-party AI service (Anthropic Claude) and subject to the limitations of that technology.

Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of the content you create in Tandem (messages, notes). We retain ownership of the app, its design, and its code. AI-generated content (summaries, context documents, facilitator responses) is provided as part of the service.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may terminate your account at any time via the Delete Account option in Settings.

Limitation of Liability

Tandem is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to relationship outcomes, emotional distress, or reliance on AI-generated content.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
